President Catherine Gaines, pictured above, works in Lumberton, NC at the Gibson Cancer Center, part of the Southeastern Regional Medical Center. On Saturday, June 27, 2015 its Gibson Cancer Center caught fire and was partially destroyed. Gibson Cancer Center is a comprehensive outpatient center for providing radiation oncology, chemotherapy and hematology services to cancer patients. True to the personalities of PAs, NPs, and nurses, the staff, without skipping a beat, moved the hospital to a temporary location and by Monday morning, June 29th the Center was up and running caring for their patients.

AASPA has made a donation to the Gibson Cancer Center to help them rebuild and the membership of AASPA represented by the BOD has given the gift with the deepest concern for the patients needing care for their cancer and the deep fellowship we as PAs feel for the caregivers, MD/PA/NP and others, as they continue the fight for their patients in the face of adversity.
