Membership Information Sit down any evening to read up on news in the PA Profession and you will encounter stories on CME events, Physician Residency Cutbacks, changes in Medicare Reimbursement, increasing competition from other practitioner for the first assistant position, possible changes in reimbursement, credentialing, certification, and more! Can you relate to any of these issues?? We can! AASPAs role is to enhance the role of the Surgical PA in the peri-operative envirnoment, and thereby enhancing your career, opportunities, and even your paycheck! With this in mind, we hope that the importance of membership in our organization is made clear. To help you with these issues, we need your help as a member of AASPA. Many employers will reimburse your dues, and if not they are a great tax write-off. We encourage all PAs working in Surgery/Emergency Medicine/Critical Care to join the AASPA. We all know that there is strength in numbers, and one of our main roles as an organization is to present a unified surgical voice to Legislative bodies, other PA Organizations, and Physician/Surgeon organizations. There are several categories of Membership: Fellow-- Graduate of a SA/PA Program. If you are not NCCPA certified, then we will require a copy of your PA school certificate/degree. Our membership year runs from July 1st to June 30th. Click on the application at the bottom of the page. Resident-- AASPA was the first PA organization to recognize the PA Resident with their own unique membership category! Graduate of a PA Program, currently in an approved PA Residency Program in Surgery/Critical Care/ Emergency Medicine. We require a letter from your Program Director which certifies your residency position. You may hold the membership category of resident for one year only. Student-- If you are even moderately interested in Surgery/Critical Care/ Emergency Medicine then you need AASPA membership. AASPA membership is a great way to improve your resume, especially if you are applying for a surgical/ emergency position. You must include your school and date and month of graduation. Membership is valid until your graduation date, so join early! Pre-PA-- Although only graduate PAs and PA students may 'join' AASPA, as a college student interested in the PA Profession you can make a donation to AASPA. In return you will receive all of our publications, invitations to our meetings, and a letter to include in your PA Program/CASPA applications. It is exciting to see how many "AASPA Pre-PAs" are becoming fellow members. See the special application on this site. Benefits for all:
